The US based Binnie family have invested in Danish 1st division side AC Horsens.

The acquisition was approved at an extraordinary general meeting of the club’s shareholders which took place on Tuesday (November 1).

The Binnie family are the owners of Boston based private investment firm Carlisle Capital and specialist sports company Lighthouse Sports. They have a reputation as long-term and patient investors with a successful track record of working closely to support the management teams of the businesses in which they have invested.

The agreement with AC Horsens is the culmination of a three-year search that has seen the Binnie family look at clubs throughout Europe.

“We are very pleased to have reached this agreement with AC Horsens,” said Adam Binnie, Vice President of Carlisle Capital and Lighthouse Sports.

“We believe we can bring considerable value to the club, not just through the investment of capital but through strategic thinking and the value we can bring through our scouting network,” he added.

The change in shareholding is not expected to lead to a major upheaval at the club. “This is a well-run club and we look forward to working closely with the executive team,” said Binnie.
